J. C. Phillipps
Location: West Hartford, Connecticut
J. C. Phillipps grew up in Ohio taking Saturday morning classes at the Toledo Museum of Art. She studied theater and art at college and graduate school. Although she never formally studied fiction writing, she feels she learned a lot about story structure through dramatic writing and working on plays. She tinkered with the idea of creating picture books while teaching first grade afterschool in Cambrdige, MA. But it wasn’t until she had her own son that she got serious about the craft.
