Lara Zielin grew up Wisconsin eating cheese and reading anything and everything she could get her hands on. The first books she wrote, starting at age six, had titles like HELP I’VE BEEN CAPTURED and THE TICK-TOC BUNNY, with plots that almost always centered around animals or espionage. Sometimes both.
Lara was inspired by the idea of setting a novel at a donut camp when Minnesota’s first Krispy Kreme donut store opened in the small town of Maple Grove. The energy and enthusiasm with which people gathered to acquire circular pastries was like nothing she’d ever seen before. Although the Maple Grove store is now closed, Lara hopes its memory lives on through DONUT DAYS and the book’s fictional franchise, Crispy Dream.Latest Books

Honorarium and Fees
Honorariums begin at $100 for most Michigan-based events and go up from there, depending on length of visit and distance from author. Travel, lodging and meal expenses may apply for out-of-town travel. Please contact Lara directly to discuss rates.
