
Scotti Cohn
Location: Bloomington, Illinois
Scotti Cohn, author of One Wolf Howls, is a free-lance writer and editor. Her short stories have appeared in numerous magazines for young people, and her poems about animals have appeared in Highlights for Children and Zootles magazines. Scotti is also the author of six adult nonfiction titles published by The Globe Pequot Press, including It Happened in Chicago, scheduled for publication in August 2009. Currently Scotti is working on several picture book ideas along with a fantasy novel for young adults.
Scotti has two adult children. She and her husband Ray share their home with five cats. However, Scotti also has a special place in her heart for dogs and their magnificent ancestor, the wolf. She enjoys sharing her enthusiasm about wolves with children in her school and library visits.Latest Books
Example Presentations and Workshops
- “A Year in the World of Wolves with Scotti and Lobo” – Aimed at children in grades K-3, this program uses the book One Wolf Howls, Lobo the wolf puppet, recordings of wolf howls, and activities to teach the role and value of wolves in the natural world.
- “Is There a Poem in the Picture?” – Aimed at children in grades K-3, this program uses props such as magazine pictures to engage and inspire children to express themselves in poetry.
- # “Letting the Wolf in the Door: What Little Red Riding Hood’s Grandmother Doesn’t Want You to Know” – Aimed at elementary school librarians and teachers, this program explores ways to present a balanced view of wolves at the primary school level through books and activities.
Honorarium and Fees
