Jennifer was born and raised in San Diego but spent many summers in New Mexico as a child. She didn’ t think there was much to do there so she made up lots of adventures and read countless books to pass the time.     I am so glad your book was is on the battle of the Books list for Chicago Public Schools this year. My team which currently consists of 19 students love, love, love your book. Besides it being a great read, it is also a wonderful mentor text for writing. You really have a poetic way with words.
    As a middle school teacher, I am always looking for books with cultural diversity. This book also helps students embrace their own cultures!
